WHO ARE WE?

SoundWave is the first and only co-ed a cappella ensemble at San Diego State University. This ensemble was founded with the purposes of expressing individual talent, encouraging creativity, fostering teamwork, embracing diversity, and dedicating to the performing arts. We perform frequently around the SDSU campus, in the greater San Diego area (including with a cappella groups at other universities), and have even participated in the Los Angeles A Cappella Festival (LAAF). This will be our 4th year competing in the ICCAs, and each time we have competed in previous years we have gone to the Southwest Semifinals, after winning First Place at the Southwest Quarterfinals.

You can find SoundWave rehearsing twice a week in the SDSU music building, or wherever we can find a space to sing! While we only have 3 music majors in our ensemble, our members have done an amazing job going above and beyond to be able to perform with passion and to do it all on top of their academic load. We at SoundWave prioritize not only excellence in music, but creating a fun and welcoming family environment for all of our members. SoundWave’s goal is to splash the audience with a wave of sound consisting of a musical repertoire of many different genres, styles, and some funky music for our theory nerds out there. We cannot wait to show you what we have in store for this year!
